A charming historic farmhouse near Salen on the Isle of Mull, offering four delightful Bed and Breakfast rooms. This property is perfectly located for guests eager to explore the vast attractions of Mull, including convenient access to the spiritual Isle of Iona. The house, which has evolved over the years, is adorned with a sophisticated palette of blues, greys, and off-whites, occasionally punctuated with vibrant colours, creating a space rich in character and atmosphere, as even noted in the Farrow and Ball book “How to Decorate.”
The bed and breakfast rooms are thoughtfully situated on the first floor, each reflecting a unique charm. The End Room features a large double bed with a four-poster from the West Indies, while the Twin Room offers two brass beds and its own wash hand basin; these two rooms share a bathroom. Additionally, two other double bedrooms share a separate bathroom: the Yellow Room boasts a four-poster bed from Lamu in the Indian Ocean with its own wash basin, and the Finavon Room provides a slightly larger space with a double brass bed. All rooms are furnished with linen, duvets, and pillows by The White Company, ensuring comfort.
Guests at Callachally House can enjoy a cosy sitting room on the ground floor, filled with books, paintings, and antique furniture, complete with an open fire and comfortable seating, ideal for relaxation. A separate TV room with Sky, DVDs, and games is also available on the second floor. Set within its own enclosed, sheltered grounds of just under an acre, surrounded by mature trees, the house offers privacy. Guests can often spot Sea Eagles from the sunny back garden, and the property is situated on a working farm with magnificent Highland cattle and black-faced sheep. Callachally House is also occasionally available to rent as a self-catering unit, accommodating up to ten people.
