Mull Pottery is a family-run business with a history dating back to 1975, when it was established by the late Peter Walker. Now run by his children, the pottery is inspired by the distinctive colours and textures of the West Coast of Scotland, with signature “Sea Shore” and “Iona” glaze ranges being particularly popular. All pieces are hand-thrown, glazed, and fired in Tobermory, making each item a unique, high-quality souvenir. The pottery is also functional, with the high-fired stoneware being suitable for use in ovens, microwaves, and dishwashers.
The business operates out of two locations in Tobermory. The main shop is located at the address you provided, 45 Main Street, where you can browse and purchase a range of ceramics and other Scottish crafts and gifts. A working studio is also located just outside Tobermory at Baliscate, where visitors are welcome to watch the production process in action. This two-location setup provides a comprehensive experience, from seeing the craft in its making to finding the perfect piece to take home.
