The Tobermory Community Fireworks Display
The true highlight of Hogmanay in Tobermory is the spectacular fireworks display over the bay. This is a community event run entirely by volunteers and funded by donations from local businesses and individuals. It is a testament to the community spirit of the island.
As midnight approaches everyone gravitates towards the Clock Tower and harbour wall to count down the seconds together. It is the best vantage point to watch the volunteer-led display launch over the bay and seeing the New Year in with the whole town is an experience you cannot miss.
The Western Isles Hotel New Year’s Eve Party
This is the big ticketed event if you want the full party experience. The hotel is hosting a massive celebration that headlines with live music from the acoustic trio Snuffbox. They will be playing a mix of fiddle, cello, and guitar to keep the energy high and get everyone moving on the dance floor.
The hotel offers a stunning vantage point for the community fireworks over the bay. Guests can watch from the terrace or windows before staff serve hot bacon rolls to keep the energy going well into the early hours.
Hello 2026 Hogmanay Dance at Aros Hall
If you want a proper community bash then head to Aros Hall in Tobermory for the “Hello 2026” Hogmanay Dance. This night is all about the music and the dancing with a fantastic atmosphere guaranteed. The “Legendary DJ Ted” takes over the decks from 8:00 PM and keeps the tunes going right through until 2:00 AM. It is a great value night out with entry just £10 plus under 16s get in completely free which makes it a great option for families.
Bunessan Inn Ring in the Bells
Down on the Ross of Mull the Bunessan Inn is the place to be for the celebrations. They are dedicating their evening to officially “Ringing in the Bells” and welcoming everyone to join the countdown. The doors open at 4:00 PM so you can settle in early and enjoy the warm pub atmosphere as the excitement builds towards midnight. It is the perfect spot to gather with locals and friends to toast the New Year.
Hogmanay at The Inn at Port Nan Gael
For a celebration with a view you can head to The Inn at Port Nan Gael on the shores of Loch Scridain. The bar opens at 4:00 PM and stays open right through the bells. It serves as a brilliant social hub for those wanting to celebrate the New Year with drinks and good cheer in a stunning lochside setting. You can enjoy the festive food and the company without needing a ticket.
