The Pod Scoor Coastal Bolthole Mull is a compact, contemporary timber structure designed as an ideal retreat for a couple seeking a remote and quiet base on the Ross of Mull’s south coast. Located in the area of Scoor, which is famed for its stunning, unspoiled beaches and abundant wildlife, The Pod offers a truly secluded island experience. This cosy bolthole is a modern, well-insulated space, positioned sensitively behind Ploughman’s Cottage, ensuring privacy for both properties with separate driveways and no direct overlooking.
Inside, the accommodation is an open-plan living, kitchen, and dining area, meticulously arranged to maximize space and natural light. It is well-equipped for self-catering, featuring a gas hob, oven, fridge/freezer, and a washing machine/dryer. There is a standard double bed area adjoining the main space, along with a separate shower room. While the area has no mobile signal, guests benefit from a fibre-optic Wi-Fi connection and a landline phone, which can be used for Wi-Fi calling/texting on most mobile devices.
Access to The Pod is challenging, requiring travellers to navigate the last two miles on a poor-quality, potholed farm track that must be taken slowly, but is generally manageable for normal cars with reasonable clearance. This effort is rewarded by the property’s magical setting, offering easy access to two fantastic secluded beaches, Kilvickeon and Traigh Bhan na Sgurra, and excellent coastal walks. The nearest village for supplies is Bunessan, just over 10 minutes away, with Fionnphort (the ferry terminal for Iona and Staffa) a short drive further.
