The Tobermory Harbour Association (THA) is a pivotal community enterprise company based in Tobermory, on the Isle of Mull, holding the status of a Statutory Harbour Authority. Established in 1983, THA is dedicated to the protection, development, and sustainable management of Tobermory Bay and its surrounding environs for the benefit of the local community. As a “profit for purpose” organisation, all generated funds are reinvested into harbour facilities and wider community assets, driving economic growth and local employment.
THA provides a comprehensive range of services and facilities for both visiting yachtsmen and local users. These include managing moorings and an extensive 60-berth pontoon system offering water, electricity, and essential shoreside amenities like public toilets, showers, and laundry facilities at their harbour building, ‘Taigh Solais’. They also operate a dedicated passenger landing platform, accommodating cruise ship tenders, and a fuel berth, ensuring the harbour is well-equipped for various maritime activities and visitors.
Beyond marine operations, the Tobermory Harbour Association actively contributes to the cultural and recreational life of the island. They formerly managed the unique Mull Aquarium, Europe’s first ‘Catch and Release’ aquarium, and oversee community assets such as the Aros Park Waterfront. THA’s long-term vision focuses on continuous infrastructure development and the strategic acquisition of assets, reinforcing Tobermory Harbour’s role as a vital stepping stone for commerce and leisure on Scotland’s west coast.
