Torosay Parish Church is a distinctive and historic landmark situated on a green in Craignure, on the Isle of Mull, visible as the ferry approaches. Constructed in 1783, this plain Georgian kirk was built under the patronage of the Duke of Argyll. Over the centuries, it has undergone several significant renovations and repairs, including extensive work in 1828 and 1832 following a lightning strike, and further updates between 1869 and 1871. These historical layers contribute to the character of this enduring island church.

Architecturally, the church features white harled walls, arch-headed windows, a slate roof, and a charming bird-cage belfry atop its east gable. A particularly unusual and notable design element is the presence of two Laird’s Galleries, each accessed by its own separate external staircase. These galleries, thought to have been for the Duke of Argyll and the Laird of Lochbuie, reflect a unique historical compromise in seating arrangements. Inside, the church maintains a simple yet dignified aesthetic, with plain white walls and pitch-pine pews.

As an active part of the Church of Scotland, Torosay Parish Church continues to serve its community, holding regular Sunday services at 12 noon. The church is typically open to visitors at all times, inviting quiet contemplation or exploration of its unique features. A War Memorial, commemorating the men of Torosay who fell in the First World War, stands proudly on the green in front of the church, further cementing its role as a central point of remembrance and gathering in Craignure.
