The Ulva Ferry Shore Facilities Building is a recently completed, state-of-the-art facility located at Ulva Ferry on the Isle of Mull, serving as a significant addition to the area’s infrastructure. Developed through a collaborative effort by the Mull and Iona Community Trust (MICT) and the Ulva Ferry School Community Association (USCA), with support from Highlands and Islands Enterprise, this building represents the culmination of a multi-phase project aimed at enhancing the waterside amenities. Its thoughtful design is sensitive to the local environment, blending modern approaches with the natural beauty of the National Scenic Area.
Opened recently, the building is notable for being the first net carbon neutral community building in the area, showcasing a commitment to sustainability. It provides a comprehensive range of essential services for both local residents and visiting mariners. Facilities include public toilets, showers, a laundry room equipped with washing machines and tumble driers, a dedicated drying room, a kitchen, and office space. Additionally, a versatile multifunction room serves as a valuable community space, dedicated to the memory of local stalwart Jeannie MacColl.
The Ulva Ferry Shore Facilities Building is more than just an amenities block; it is a vital component in the ongoing revitalization of the Ulva Ferry area. By offering high-quality services and a welcoming hub, it aims to attract more boats to the pontoon, providing wider economic benefits and strengthening the local community’s resilience. Its strategic position near the ferry slipway and pontoons makes it a convenient and important resource for anyone visiting or residing in this vibrant part of Mull.
