The much-loved children’s television programme Balamory will return to Tobermory this summer, with filming scheduled to take place between 21 July and 31 July 2026.
Residents and business owners across Main Street, Victoria Street, West Street and surrounding areas have received filming notifications from production company Lion Media, advising that work will take place throughout the period.
Filming Schedule and Local Arrangements
Filming is expected to take place during normal daytime hours, typically between 7.00am and 6.00pm or 8.00am and 7.00pm.
The production team has confirmed it is working closely with Argyll and Bute Council to minimise disruption while filming. Traffic management measures will be in place where required to maintain the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians, with a dedicated traffic management company assisting throughout the production.
Police Scotland will also be notified of filming activity, while the production will have its own security contractor on the Isle of Mull during the shoot.
Production Base and Parking Changes
Tobermory High School will serve as the main production base during filming. As a result, public parking at the school will not be available while it is being used by the production team and associated contractors.
Advice for Residents and Businesses
The production has also asked residents and businesses to inform the locations team if they have any planned work during the filming period that could create significant background noise, such as building or grounds maintenance, or other activities that may affect recording.
Balamory Returns to Its Famous Home
Balamory first aired in 2002 and quickly became one of the BBC’s most popular children’s programmes, with Tobermory’s colourful waterfront becoming instantly recognisable to audiences across the UK and beyond. News that the series is returning has generated excitement both locally and among fans of the original programme.
